				Pain in breasts

I finished my last herceptin treatment in December. Now, I am noticing shooting pains in both my breasts. I can't really describe the pain, other than they shoot across the breast.
Is this something I should be concerned about? MY left breast cancer was found during a routine mammogram. It was 2.5 cm, but you could not feel it because it was so deep next to my chest wall. Now, I am wondering if it is coming back in both breasts. I did have radiation on the left breast and a port on the right side. I don't know if this is just scar tissue pain or what.

Thanks in advance for any advice. God bless you all!

				Radiation induced fibrosis?

Linda I've had a similar problem and also itch/soreness and a hard area
 around the surgery site.
I finished herceptin Novenber and rads last April and my surgeon just confirmed it's radiation induced fibrosis.
It seems if you had a "boost" which I did you're more at risk of this and it can sometimes last years!
I was just so relieved it was'nt a local recurrance I felt I could live with anything else.
Maybe this is what you have too?

	 | I had the same shooting pains in my right breast over Thanksgiving and my oncologist thought it was just the nerves regenerating (even a year after my lumpectomy). I also had a PET scan at the beginning of this month which confirmed that it was nothing to worry about.
If you haven't had a scan or mammogram recently, maybe your oncologist could request one just to give you peace of mind.

My breast is sore and shooting pains also. The Dr. said this could go on for a
year due to radiation boost and regenerating of the nerves where they were cut.
I had lumpectomy on 1.7 cm. in left breast, stage I, ER+, PR- Her 2 positive
4 A/C's every three weeks, no other chemo since Nodes were negative, then
33 radiations with 5 boost. Now on hercetin and Amimidex.

	 | I get pings and pangs in my breast and underarm when I move certain ways. I assumed it was nerve cell healing as I felt similiar pangs in my abdomen after a C-Section quite awhile afterwords.
Still, bring it up with every doc you see as part of follow up.

 Best wishes, BB

				Linda, femara...

can cause that too. I have experienced a lot of weird breast stuff depending on my hormonal situations e.g. chemopause and going on and off AI's. Just a thought.

				Glad you posted this!

Linda,I have had strange feelings in breast on and off nothing that lasts too long.
But all the same they are there and when ever we feel aches etc. in the breast it causes us to stop in our tracks.

It was interesting to read the posts here. I have been experiencing a lot
of itchy skin reaction to both breasts esp. after having herceptin treatment. I notice just about the 2nd or 3rd day it starts and lasts for a good 10 days.
Just when I start to feel normal - it is time for another herceptin treatment.

 Regards,
 Jean

	 | Thank you all for your replys. I do feel better knowing that I am not alone. The pain has stopped now, and I am wondering if it is from the Herceptin or the Femara.
I am going to talk to my onc when I see her next, just to be sure. It seems that now that I am off the Herceptin, I think that every pain I have is the cancer coming back.

I need to live my life and not let this cancer overwhelm me. Thanks to you all.
