Maria, Like you, I don't want any extra beams of radiation on me at all if I can avoid it. I know my onc just recently *tried* her best to talk me into a CT of brain INSTEAD of MRI of my brain. I told her I WANT the MRI...the CT is radiation. She always pushes CT's and x-rays...but in my case I think its all about cost to her. A CT is about $450 verses $2000 for MRI.

I have been exposed to enough radiation, so any chance I get I certainly avoid it. If you have a PET coming up...I would pass up the chest x-ray since the PET should be able to pick up anything an x-ray can and more.

Ask your onc if its really necessary? I do believe a PET & CT scan is radiation too. I am NOT sure which one has more...the x-ray, or PET/CT? But again...if you have a PET coming up soon...I would stick to that.
