Pat B,
I was also diagnosed in June as stage 1; had lumpectomy June 3 and then reexcision for one positive margin June 23. I started Rx August 14 and completed September 29th. I started Herceptin every three weeks on Aug. 24th and an AI on October 1. I have had periodic discomfort (wouldn't call it sharp pain) ever since surgery (after the re-excision I had a whopping seroma/hematoma). I am still sensitive on that breast to any pressure. When I had my follow-up visit with the radiation oncologist in November, just the amount of pressure applied to do a clinical breast exam almost put me over the edge. At the time, my surgeon told me it would take 6 months post radiation for the breast to "settle down." My radiation oncologist also told me that the area where I received the boost would be extra sensitive, as the area was tightly focused due to the fact I had so many clips left by the surgeon. I am coming up on my first mammograpy since surgery this April, and am wondering how I am going to deal with the pain of compression. My idea is to make an off-time appointment, and take one of the left-over tylenol with codene from the surgery an hour in advance.
So, long answer to your short question - yep, it still hurts! Best of luck to you.
Hopeful
