We don't have control over things
1 Attachment(s)
My daughter was married last Saturday, so months of decorations and planning are now behind me...it was a beautiful day and a beautiful wedding...but my daughter came down with a stomach virus 20 minutes into the reception, was vomiting non stop and I ended up taking her to the ER...wedding attire and all....(we were the best dressed at the ER I must admit). After 2 IV's and IV Reglan, they got the vomiting under control. Although we missed the whole reception, She was able to fly to Mexico the next day for her honeymoon. THEN...my 7 month pregnant daughter in law got it, and she ended up in the hospital....meanwhile I have had my 2 grandchildren all week (thank God we didn't get the virus) and I now know why women 54 are not in their childbearing years!!!! I have had a wonderful time with them, the zoo, swimming, fishing, parks etc.... I am exhausted, but I wouldn't trade this time for anything ...I have not even thought about CANCER this week. I have learned to limit the kids to 1 pop a day, and 50 questions each!!!! It doesn't get any better than this. They leave tonight...I may sleep for a week!!!!

Life happens!
Wow, sheila, what a story! So glad to hear that with all the ups and downs, everyone (including you!) survived! How wonderful that you were able to get so caught up in LIFE that you forgot your own daily battle to stay in the game. Now THAT's got to be healing in its own right!
Enjoy the rest and the wonderful family fun hangover! Love chris |
Wow!! Your daughter will have a story to tell her kids one day! Glad she was able to go on her trip, and probably had a much needed rest. She must have been exhausted as well. She looks beautiful in her dress. One would never know what was about to happen.
Wedding stories abound!! Last year I flew to Florida for a wedding. At 2:30 a.m the parents go a call from her frantic daughter. Her husband couldn't get her out of her dress and she needed a special tool to unbutton all those buttons in the back of the gown. Needless to say, they had to go over to the hotel, bring the tool and assist. Two months before my own daughter's wedding I developed my first recurrence with a 3cm brain met, and cancer through out. My daughter looked beautiful, but I as mother of the bride was full of decadron and you know how that looks. She still wanted me to escort her with my husband. The most important thing is that I made it to the wedding and am still here today. Best wishes to your family, and to your daughter and her new husband!!! Barbara H. |
Sheila and Barbara, your stories brought tears to my eyes - for the experiences we are having and for the opportunity to share these experiences with one another in this Support Group. Life does throw curve balls to everyone. (Lovely bride, by the way).

Sheila,
Your wedding story is like an oasis in the BC desert, a funny (with a good ending) break for all of us. Wonderful outcome for all of you to remember. Congratulation, if a little belated. Ann |
Dear Sheila and Barbara,
Thank you for sharing your stories - as I read both I am so impressed with the beauty of life that you radiate. Your children are so blessed to have such strong admirable "WOMEN"! Jean |
