Every three weeks, triple dose

Hello. I have never commented in here before. Although new to this forum, I am not new to Herceptin or breast cancer. I was diagnosed 4 years ago today with stage 4 breast cancer, with liver mets. I was given 18 months. That was 4 years ago. I started a strong regimen of chemotherapy, starting with 5FU, Epirubicin and Herceptin for 12 rounds, then Taxotere and Gemzare with Herceptin for 12 rounds, followed by Carboplatin and Cisplatin with Herceptin. It was a long year. Then 30 rad treatments. I never had a mastectomy or lumpectomy. They figured since I was stage 4, why bother I guess. Anyway, I have been having Herceptin every 3 weeks, (528) for the last 3 years. I have just started having a type of allergic reation to it though, and was wondering if anyone else experienced it. My blood pressure either drops, or raises. Then I spend the next 3 days with sore bones and headaches. I'm in bed right now actually! Had treatment yesterday and blood pressure sky rocketed. Doc makes it sound like Herceptin is no big deal...it's not "chemo"! Have had MUGA every 3 months, stats are still good 52. Just getting harder and harder to deal with side affects.

I'm just finishing up a year of weekly Herceptin. My blood pressure has increased on it and I have bone & joint pain.

I don't know if putting you on a weekly or biweekly dosage would help.

I take tylenol every day for aches, and also glucosamine.

Maybe you would be a candidate for Tykerb.

Tykerb

That is a possibility. I would have to do some more research on it. Although I live in Ohio, my complete treatment is dictated by a Doctor in Longbeach, California. Perhaps I should contact him about giving it a try. I must admit, the bone pain is getting old.

Thanks for the fast response. I wish you the best.

I had A/c every 2 weeks. Is that dose dense? Then I had Taxol every two weeks. Total of 8 treatments over a 16 week period. Then surgery. Started Herceptin after radiation. Get Herceptin every 3 weeks.

I find it interesting that some people get Herceptin and Taxol together. This option was never mentioned to me.

Every week

I received taxol, carboplatinum, and herceptin weekly for 3 weeks then herceptin only for 1 week for 6 cycles, now I receive my herceptin only 1 per week.

Steph...

No, I'm not, just curious. Don't really know what point a chart would be as treatment is ALWAYS changing and what we had is now obsolete. Take care and God bless.
