Wanted to pass along a new treatment that my oncologist discussed with me at a recent appointment. It is called CLEOPATRA and is the most current treatment for HER2 positive breast cancer. Here is a link that provides the information from the recent study:

http://www.esmo.org/Conferences/ESMO-2014-Congress/Press-Media/CLEOPATRA-Trial-Changes-Standard-Therapy-for-Metastatic-HER2-Positive-Breast-Cancer

Apparently it is considered to be the newest protocol for women with HER2 positive breast cancer.

Just wanted to pass it along for those who may be interested. I have been on Herceptin for 5 years and am trying to decide whether to add perjeta to my regime since I am in remission.

I am currently on this treatment plan for liver mets. (the brain mets are being treated separately). Had two treatments so far. I find it very rough...the extreme fatigue is the worst...I am down and out for about 7 days...have 4 more treatments to go. Supposed to be the first line "gold standard" ...we will see.

On a fun side note, my siblings had two special Cleopatra-style head coverings made for me, in honor of this study ;)

Possible to show us a photo of you in one of your Cleopatra head coverings? Wonderful idea!
