The San Diego Chargers have partnered (http://www.chargers.com/news/article-1/Chargers-Fund-Free-Mammography-for-Uninsured-Women/d583c64f-e35c-4c12-9246-df3dadfeb875) with Susan G. Komen for the Cure, San Diego to provide free mammograms to dozens of uninsured women.
“Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a cause that really hits close to home for me,” A.G. Spanos, the Chargers’ executive vice president and chief executive officer, said in a statement. “My mom is a breast cancer survivor and from her experience I know how vital early detection can be. I encourage women to call and learn if they qualify for a free mammogram because early detection saves lives.”
The team will be underwriting the cost of free mammograms and breast exams for 70 women under the age of 40 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Tuesday at Qualcomm Stadium. Additional women may be able to receive mammograms at a later date, and women under 40 will be directed to other resources for help.
Women can call 619-508-8088 for information about qualifying to participate.
