If I read Lani's post correctly, this test was done on Her2+ cells (MCF-7): http://www.abstractsonline.com/Plan/ViewAbstract.aspx?sKey=8470e8e3-41af-43e7-869e-215a15f42b56&cKey=27399f88-254f-4aee-9528-851a4f4e1852&mKey=%7b0591FA3B-AFEF-49D2-8E65-55F41EE8117E%7d

MCF-7 cells , the most commonly used breast cancer cell line in research are her2-. Occasionally you will see studies on MCF-7 cells which are an artificial construct having been transfected (infected with additional genetic material to change them) with her2

So these cells were ER+ and her2-

I have posted a list of the most common her+ cell lines used in research if you

try the search function I think you'll find it

I don't believe they studied what made these particular cells resistant to estrogen deprivation (and sensitive to estrogen causing apoptosis),but from previous work by these authors I don't believe they noted acquisition of her2 amplification as the cause of this change.
