I'm back

Sorry to say that I really am not glad to be posting again. I have been lurking for the past 3 years, but really thought I would not have to seek more guidance, wisdom, and support, but alas my cancer has returned.
Had shortness of breath and a cough. Finally went to the doctor yesterday, as I was too scared to go before. Confirmed that the cancer is in my lymph nodes around my esphogus (sp) and chest wall.
Looking for a new onc. now and reviewing my options.
Life was going so great too. My first grandchild is due in June, my daughter got a great job in D.C. and my youngest is graduating from college in May.
Love living in Denver and just got a promotion.
Boy did yesterday change my life again.
Anyway, thank you again to all of you who continue to keep us informed of chemotherapy options, side effects and life's journey along this road.

I'm sorry you need us again, but glad we are here for you. I have no wisdom on treatments, but I do want you to know that I'm here if you need to vent, talk, cry, swear or throw objects at someone.

Emelie, I am so sorry you had to visit us again. But we are here for you. Last Sept. I had a recurrence after a good run of 3 1/2 yrs of being NED. Just as you start trusting your body again...life is good...wham...it just sucks. Unfortunetly so many of us here understand how your feeling. But do know there are alot of good options out there to knock this down just like you did the first time. Keep us updated & we will all be glad to help you in any way we can. Hang in there. Sorry that you have found a recurrence. I know the shocking feeling - I had found my recurrence after 4 years of 'clean mammograms'. There's so much mixed emotions...

Several long term members have had similar recurrence like yours - in the lymphnodes. You might already know this - if you type in 'long-time survivors' using the 'Search' button on the top bar, you will find many women who have similar stories like yours.

Most of us put our treatment histories in the 'signature' field. To help others lend you better support, you might want to put your treatment history in your signature field also by going to the User PC field - Signature - ...

I just had a hysterectomy/oophorectomy because of family/personal cancer history. Also learned from my oncologist that my ER status had changed from weakly + (5%) to ER- in the recurrence. But I have continued on for 5-year's worth of Tamoxifen anyway (will end it when I finish this last re-fill.) Breast cancer is such a complex disease, we just have to keep up with it and get a step ahead...

Hi Emelie, I remember you from the past here and so sorry you 're facing this recurrance. I know the ladies here battling stage iv will give you inspiration and courage.
I'm awaiting mri results myself for suspected bone mets and think I know how you feel.

Hello and welcome back, I am sorry that you will have to go into treatment again....I know that feeling of sorrow when a setback happens. One thing I have learned through my own experience is that there are still joys to be found in life even while facing a life threatening illness. I hate that lesson, but for me, I have found that to be the case. In the past few years during my own progression, I have managed to travel, celebrate the birth of my first grandchild who is now three, see my youngest graduate from college, just to name a few of the joys. Yes, there is a flip side too, I have had to make many adjustments in plans and pass up some opportunities. But life can still be pretty good. Sincerely, Ceesun

I am so sorry that you have to wage war once again. But, I know that you are up to the fight.

Much has changed in the 3 years that you've been gone. One of the big successes for many facing stage IV is the introduction of TDM-1. Many on the board have had enormous success.

So...take heart my dear...you shall prevail once again.
