Women who receive a cancer or MS diagnosis are six times more likely to end up separated or divorced than a male spouse who receives the same diagnosis, a new study has found.

the reason why divorce is high among sick/diseased women is pretty obvious.

I think the divorce is influenced by emotional and financial problems. Some patients would ask divorce themselves to lessen the worries or burden they're giving to their families. Some men would also see their spouse's sickness as threat to the family; of course, the wife has to undergo medications simultaneously, and this will lose her sense of responsibility at home.

The patient needs security and love from his family, but, sometimes, the illness becomes an excuse to pursue a divorce or separation. This is a sobering reality faced by many married patients.
