Dicer, Drosher, & Cancer Survival 12/19/2008

Researchers at MD Anderson Cancer Center have identified two proteins that have a significant impact on survival in ovarian, lung, and breast cancers (http://www.mdlinx.com/m_tracking.cfm?m_id=11712&sendto=http://content.nejm.org/cgi/content/short/359/25/2641). The proteins, Dicer and Drosher, inactivate genes by RNA interference. High levels of the proteins were associated with a median survival of 11 years, while low levels of the proteins were associated with a median survival of 2.7 years.
