Thanks For This Thread, Which Was Interesting Concerning Estrogen In Moisturizers. I Would Especially Keep These Products Away From The Breast Areas To Prevent Any New Ductal Cancers From Forming.

It would have been more useful, IMO, if they indicated what moisturizers they tested. I assume there are legal reasons for not disclosing the names.

Thank you for posting this article. I had wondered about the estrogen content in moisturizers.

Do you think it would be safe to use olive oil as a moisturizer?

I don't know about using olive oil on the face; seems to me it would clog the pores. I have seen it recommended as an external moisturizer only for vaginal atrophy (peritineum). Other than that, I am unfamiliar with using it as a topical application versus a food.

Wow! What is the answer, given no listing of the brands or suggestion on what to look for? Just avoid all moisturizers?

I wrote to Adrienne Olson, the pharmacist and bc patient who decided to test 16 brands of moisturizers for estrogens, asking her about specific brands. I received this reply:

Thank you for your interest in the estrogen project.

A reasonably accurate write up done at the poster presentation can be viewed at MedPage Today by
Charles Bankhead. Be sure to listen to the interview below the picture.

The poster information was only a screening test. We only tested down to a level of 0.05%, only tested for three
estrogens (no designer estrogens), and companies change their formulas frequently--Therefore
brand names may be misleading.

I am also an ER+ breast cancer survivor. At this time I have made the personal choice to moisturize
only with baby oil. It's a little greasy but I feel safer.

Our goal is for others in the scientific community and the FDA to repeat and expand upon
our screening data.

Hmmm...
This needs to be resolved better...and soon. Or at least gives us some informed questions to ask various manufacturers.
