I used to play in bands in the days when working for sub-minimal seemed like a good idea. You couldn't escape any venue without someone asking you to play Freebird, Stairway to heaven, and if they were old geezers, Proud Mary. The thing was that Freebird has a guitar duet as opposed to just a solo. (Warning: you are about to witness something historic, a lead guitar player admitting they can't copy something. As far as I know, it's never happened before.) I'm only one guitar player and I can't copy the sound of two guitars at once, so I didn't like playing Freebird.

Brad Maynard is punter for the Chicago Bears. He is from Tipton, Indiana which is only a few miles from Sheridan, Indiana, where Juanita lives. Since Tipton and Sheridan look exactly alike on Google Earth, one could conclude that the two towns are in the same football league. Because they are in the same league, it is evident that the Tipton Hissing Horn Toads and the Sheridan Fighting Mud Puppies play each other once a year. Since they play each other regularly, and knowing how feisty Juanita is, I am guessing that Juanita once gave a blind-sided tackle on Brad Maynard so hard that his grandchildren are going to be born with bruises. Am I close?

sorta close. so what'd you do look him up? brad graduated from sheridan high school. tipton county is across the cornfield from me. and when he played they weren't in the same conference. not even the same class. sheridan is the blackhawks and tipton is the bluedevils. i didn't go to sheridan so i couldn't hit brad, but i hit my share at the high school i went to in indianapolis.

OK, I know that one is mean to a White Sox fan. Smile! Actually, this year I am rooting for the Cubbies since the Twins lost out. And I know it, I'll go ahead and brag ... but David Ortiz, AJ Pierzynski, and Torii Hunter are friends of mine from when they were Twins. And I usually root for any team that has guys on it that I know as friends. The only ex-Twin on the Cubs I think is Henry Blanco and I didn't know him ... but we gotta break that last Curse.

Baseball photography is one of my hobbies and I so love getting my own 8x10s autographed. Here is one of my all-time favorite shots. Everyone loves to hate AJ Pierzynski but he really is a puppy dog at heart. To me this photo gets to the essence of baseball and why we love it so much. This was during the National Anthem on a Sunday when kids get picked out of the crowd to stand on the field at each position with the players ... and they get a free tee shirt. I can just see this little boy dreaming later that night of being a catcher some day:
