This is a wildish theory guess.

Oestrogens increase conversion to long chain fats.

If omega 3s are not available this will likely result in more omega six products.

The article you post says

"This supports the theory that HRT increases the production of reactive oxygen species, which are left unchecked when the catalase enzyme is dysfunctional, Quick et al assert."

Excess Omega 6 may lead to ROS eicosanoid cascades.

Excess Omega six ROS may also be implicated in coronary conditions.

Omega 3 DHA oxidation trials suggest is counter-intuitively much less damaging.

This is considered from a slightly different perspective in my book !.
