I see so many things on the internet about alternative treatments. I wanted to know if you all had some things that you knew worked. I know it's hard to guess with conventional treatment, but are there people out there that consider themselves cured from an alternative treatment they took? Thanks! Julie

Regarding alternatives, please be careful. My good friend passed away two weeks ago from lung cancer. She opted for alternative treatment which included four coffee enemas a day; two times a day in a dry sauna she purchased for her home; raw liver milkshakes and a million restrictions as to what could be included in the rest of the diet; a very demanding regimen of pills pills pills; and devices that shook her foot, emitted certain rays, etc. All this was very expensive, time-consuming, not pleasant. In order to be "successful" in this protocol, she had to maintain it exactly as instructed. As she began to lose considerable weight and strength, she became bedridden and obviously could not keep up the necessary treatment schedule. Therefore, she "failed" and the perpetrators of this scam were able to claim that it would have worked except the patient fell off the wagon.

I do still hope that there are examples of positive alternatives.

I do not regard diet as an alternative but an adjunct.

If you have time please read the post on the importance of omega three and six to breast cancer on the articles of interest section of this site.

There are several trials from different angles showing risk reductions of 60%-70% for those with higher omega three intake / the use of omega three in in vitro trials. This for me is a figure that demands consideration.

There are also lots of reasons why it make sense to include high level varied plant sources, greens retinoids flavanoids, alkaloids,.......... etc. Plants are chemical factories that humans have had access to as part of their control mechanisms and "evolution".

The more I am slowly becoming aquainted with the subject of cancer the more I realise how truly immensly complex and individual it is, how it is linked to all sorts of other processes in the body.

For me it make sense what ever decisions are taken to make the most of natures bounty in dietary terms as a starting point.

The more you read the more evidenent how complex it is.

AnnieApplseed a web site has quite a lot of info on adjunctive therapies.

I appreciate hearing these stories. I kinda feel like any serving should be less than about .30 cents. If it's more than that, I have a weary eye about it. ESPECIALLY if it's claiming to cure cancer patients. But I have no problem taking about $1-2 worth of pills a day. Any more than that, and I get irritated.I would NEVER turn down conventional treatment for alternatives. I would say that what I do is supplemental treatment. Conventional treatment has failed me. So I like to try to add supplements to my conventional treatment that will give me just a tiny bit of hope.

Try reading Dr Patrick Quillens book..it is very uplifting and you can email him with questions. Cancer Centers of America also has a web site as well as a phone number and they will design a nutriional program as well.
