Scan results
Ok so I got my scan results a few minutes ago. The doc still doesn't know about my cough coz the lungs are lookin' ok, but I have progression in the liver again. Now they want to change my chemo to navelbine probably. I will find out the whole story on Monday when I have appt and treatment. Oh well at least the beginning of my day was really nice.

Sorry to hear that when you were looking left (lungs) you got hit from the right (liver). It is information you needed to have, tho, and sounds like good news hopefully on the lungs.
Remember, you are Woman of Steel.
I know that StephN had really good success with Navelbine vs. liver mets - and I hope that you will have the same.
Regarding the liver progression, local therapy (RFA, etc) has been a hot topic lately, is this an option for you?

I'm sorry about the liver progression. Are you still on Aromosin? Is that the only AI you have tried? If so, maybe a switch to Arimidex or Femara might be in order and it might help. If you've tried those too, have you tried Faslodex? Maybe even Tamoxifen if you are on Herceptin as well.
I am only thinking out loud here. Arimidex and Femara work the same (biochemical mechanism) whereas Aromosin is different and may not be working for you any longer.
I am thinking about you since we are in tune with each other. We Jersey Girls have to stick together.

Thanks everyone. I will know more about the plan of attack next Monday. I am sure we will discuss options. Becky, I am no longer on Aromasin or anything like it. When I started the trial I was taken off and I was never put back on. I guess I assumed that was the norm, but I guess one shouldn't assume. We will be visiting Stockton college on Sunday, so I will be thinking of you also. This is our first college visit, so I figured we'd keep it local. Once we get the knack we can branch out. My brother has a shore home in Manahawkin and I have relatives in Bayville, so I figured if my kid went to Stockton she would have a support group nearby. She will probably end up going the farthest from home though. You know how it is. Murphy's law. Anyway, I am babbling. Thanks everyone for your love and concern.

I'm sorry to hear about the liver. As Chrisy suggested you should look into a local treatment life RFA, especially if the mets are limited and under 3.5 cms.
Also, try to find out why you were taken off Aromasin. Or, as Becky mentioned, whether you should take another inhibitor or blocker. I'm not ER+ but usually women who are positive take that medication.

Diagnosed stage 2b in July 2003 (2.3 cm, HER2+, ER-/PR-, 7+ nodes). Treated with mastectomy (with immediate DIEP flap reconstruction), AC + T/Herceptin (off label). Cancer advanced to lung in Jan. 2007 (1 cm nodule). Started Herceptin every 3 weeks. Lung wedge resection April 2007. Cancer recurred in lung April 2008. RFA of lung in August 2008. 2nd annual brain MRI in Oct. 2008 discovered 2.6 cm cystic tumor in left frontal lobe. Craniotomy Oct. 2008 (ER-/PR-/HER2-) followed by targeted radiation (IMRT). Coughing up blood Feb. 2009. Thoractomy July 2009 to cut out fungal ball of common soil fungus (aspergillus) that grew in the RFA cavity (most likely inhaled while gardening). No cancer, only fungus. Removal of tiny melanoma from upper left arm, plus sentinel lymph node biopsy in Feb. 2016. Guardant Health liquid biopsy in Feb. 2016 showed mutations in 4 subtypes of TP53. Repeat of Guardant Health biopsy in Jana. 2021 showed 3 TP53 mutations, BRCA1 mutation and CHEK2 mutation. Invitae genetic testing showed negative for all of these. Living with MBC since 2007. Stopped Herceptin Hylecta (injection) treatment in March 2020. Recent 2021 annual CT of chest, abdomen and pelvis and annual brain MRI showed NED. Praying for NED forever!!

I am so happy your CT of the lungs was good....and sorry about the liver but good to catch it early....hoping the cough clears up, but after 3 months I still have mine and my CT was also clear....I think I have coughed so hard or for so long, my voive has changed....guess we couldnt go to the library together!!!! Hope the navelbine kicks the heck out of that liver met!!!
