Thought this might be of interest to those that want to eat organic but have a hard time affording to.

The best way to reap the health benefits of fruits and vegetables without exposing yourself to potentially harmful pesticides is to choose organic produce whenever possible, especially those varieties which are more likely to be contaminated. But if organic produce is cutting into your budget, it's okay to buy non-organic varieties of the fruits and vegetables listed below, which tend to contain the least amount of pesticides. However, make it a habit to wash them thoroughly before eating or cooking, to remove dirt and bacteria.
- Asparagus
- Avocados
- Bananas
- Broccoli
- Cabbage
- Corn (sweet, frozen)
- Kiwi
- Mangos
- Onions
- Pineapples
- Peas (sweet, frozen)

When you do buy commercially grown vegetables, be sure to peel such vegetables as carrots, potatoes, cucumbers and acorn squash. To reduce your exposure to pesticides, I also recommend washing green beans and leafy vegetables in a solution of one teaspoon of dishwashing detergent to a gallon of water. Swirl the fruits and vegetables in the solution and then rinse them well with warm water.
For organically grown produce I have heard to soak them in a light vinegar/water solution for 15 minutes. And wipe off to get off the dirt and bacteria.
