Update - Adding Lapatinib tomorrow

Hi All,

Just wanted to give you the latest update. The doctor suspicions were right, it seems that the markers are up due to increased activity in the bones - spine to be specific. So the PET, CAT, MRIs Brain and Cervical were all good and these were formerly the areas of the most intense concern. Big sigh of relief. The Thoracic and Lumbar MRI turned out to show some progression in the spine.

What to do next? We have stopped Fasolodex and decided to add Lapatinib to the Herceptin. It will arrive by mail tomorrow. I could have gone back on Gemzar (worked before) or tired another hormonal. Together we decided on adding Lapatinib.

We are also going to strongly request to learn if I was on Lapatanib in the trial with Femara. I hope that they will tell us. During the trial I had response within 2 weeks on the visible lumps. fingers crossed that they will tell us. Scans again in 2 months.

I feel good and was not having ANY pain in my back, until 5 minutes after Doc told me I had progression. Now I am trying to visualize that the pain is my immune system kicking in to the knowledge of the "invasion"...get the heck out cancer! Amazing how the mind works!

I am tired after about a month of scanning...InScanity kicks my butt. I am going to take it easy today and keep my fingers crossed that this Lapatanib does the trick with these bone mets while keeping the other areas in check. As always, thank you in advance for your kind words and understanding.

Love, Peace, and Hope,

Carolyns
