Marjorie,

i'm stage 3b and my onc told me when Tykerb is out, he will order it for me. Since it'[s a pill, easy to take. I just wonder how long we will want to take it for? that's the question

Michelle,Yes, good question. My onc said off-label use should reflect current studies, which is either tykerb + herceptin or tykerb + xeloda. I am electing a second year of herceptin (starts mid-Jan), so if we add tykerb in March, I will have both for 9 months. Assuming the ole heart hangs in, has been fine so far. Maybe go another 3 months to make a year of Tykerb. But that herceptin is going to break the bank. We have had to pay our HUGE deductible three years in a row- not too hot on 4 years. Don't think I want to try xeloda at Stage 3.

Let me know what your onc says.

Smile Here Sandy...

"Priority review designation requires the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to decide on a drug application six months after submission. Tykerb was filed for U.S. approval on Sept. 18". Take care and God bless.

Thanks Rhonda, this is what I thought but guess, I had a brain cramp from the chemo and couldn't remember the date back in Sept. I knew someone would set me straight. hugs, Sandy

Just in Time

Thanks Rhonda....I have 2 more herceptin treatments left but yesterday we found an enlargered lympnode on the other side. Going thorough tests and trying to keep positive thoughts. It's nice to know that soon another approved drug will be avaiable. I just can afford to go outside the insuance system anymore.
Best Wishes ,
Deb
