Gamma Knife For Inoperable Tumor

As usual, I'll ask a wierd question that probably noone knows about! I wanted to know if anyone has had any experience with gamma radiation on skull metastases that did not respond to normal radiation? I'm have to try gamma at Mayo on Tuesday as a last resort on my one lesion. It's my last chance. It's almost funny - I have breast cancer but will probably die from the unexpected growth of a tumor in my skull!
Thanks, HavahJ

Clarify please ...

Hi -
You say that you have "skull metasteses" and then you say you could die of a tumor "in" your skull. I am assuming this tumor is in the bony part (skull) and not inside the skull.
I have had Gamma Knife for tumors inside my cerebellum (part of the brain), and that worked. If you have a good radiation oncology team, and this is what they recommend, then it is a very painless and simple way of dealing with that tumor.
Assume you have had various chemos that are not having any effect on that tumor.
ALL the best for Tuesday!

Dear HavahJ,
I am sorry to hear you are not doing well. Have you got any 2nd opinions regarding the inoperable part. What about Tykerb w. Herceptin. I don't recall seeing that you have been on very many chemo regiments. I wanted to just send you positive thoughts and prayers.

Hi HavahJ,

Rest assured you are in the best of hands at Mayo but I am sure you already know this. I just wanted to let you know that I along with other members of this group, will be pulling for you.
