June 27 - madubois63 update
Sorry I haven't posted in a few days. I am doing well - so well, I MAY be going home tomorrow!!!!! My counts are on the rise. My white count was down as low as .4 last week and it is up to 1.3 as of this morning. My platelets have been as low as 9 and as of this morning, they are 117 - YEAH!!! They'll do another CBC this afternoon, and then I'll get the official answer. My doc doesn't say things lightly, so I am pretty confident. I can be packed in three minutes -lol!!!! My dog is gonna be sooooo excited!! I can't wait to see him. My kids come visit and I talk to them all the time, so don't think me a bad mom..but he's my baby too!! I have to come back the hospital twice a week for blood work and care of my catheter and next week they'll do another bone marrow biopsy to determine if I am in remission (prayers please). I will be making an appointment for a consultation in Buffalo (not my choice), but from what I understand, each center specializes in specific details of each disease. Because of the BC, Buffalo is the best place for me. One good thing is that it is in state (insurance wise). The bad thing is Buffalo is like a 7 - 8 hour drive -ugh!!! Guess I will be VERY lonely there...well one thing at a time! So far so good. Thanks again for all the prayers, well wishes and love!!!

It's good to hear positive news from you!
And as far as the Buffalo trip, find yourself a good book-on-tape and time will pass faster.
Love and light,
Lisa

Sounds like good news for you and don't be silly about wanting to get home to the dog. I can totally relate and my dog is my baby too. You are not a bad mom at all. The kids can understand where you are and can come visit but the dog doesn't have a clue but fortunately they know nothing but unconditional love for their moms. Glad you will be able to go home and my continued prayers for you. Keep those counts up and good luck with the next bone marrow test. I like your attitude, fortitude and positive outlook of one day at a time. You are a true inspiration to many.

Heart skipping great news! Certainly a reason to pass over the broccoli and go straight for the chocolate!
I grew up near Buffalo and agree with Eric; make lemonades out of lemons and visit the falls; I recommend the Canadian side so bring your birth cert or passport and take the short drive over the border; it is well worth the time and effort.
Love Kim from CT

Glad to hear things are looking up. I too grew up near Buffalo. I can send my mother-in-law to visit. I'm laughing as I write. Seriously, if I asked, she would visit. I'm guessing you're going to Roswell. There's a good theatre district nearby, Shaw. Shakespeare in the park @ Delaware park. Art Museum. Chippewa St for bar hopping. Frank LLoyd Wright and Louis Sullivan buildings if you're an architecture buff. There use to be free concerts downtown on Thursday nights. Of course you have to do the falls. Maid of the mist is good on the canadian side. The caves are supposed to be better on the American side. If you want to bring the kids, you could do some time @ 6 flags, Darien Lake.
I don't know if you'll be staying @ the cancer center or @ a hotel. You might also be able to get a room @SUNYAB.
Let me know if you have any questions about Buffalo. People are pretty friendly there. If you have to go, summer is the best. Get well. BB
