But isn't the problem with messing with telomerase that it can end up causing accelerated aging?

It makes more sense to me to try expand the understanding of the interdependence of endocrine system (endocrinology) to find ways to keep it in as much balance as possible, rather than attempting to find ways to change isolated pieces of it. Right now the way things are, endocrinologists are entirely isolated from any meaningful contribution to breast cancer, unfortunately.
