12 compared to 4 cycles of Taxol

I never thought to ask this before, but I see a lot of women on 4 cycles of taxol compated to the 12 that I am on. Does anyone know what the difference is between the two? Thanks!

I suspect your 12 were weekly treatments whereas my 4 were every three weeks.

Best regards,

Its weekly vs. every 3 week treatment.

And from what I can tell, it seems like the weekly dose is tolerated more easily. I'm on taxol/carboplatin/herceptin weekly and have had minimal side effects.

Best wishes!

Hi Lisa,

Before I started Taxol, my onc offered me to take it in 12 odses because side effects such joint pains, tingling of fingers and lead foot! were minimized.

It sounds that's what you have been offered.

Wish l'd know weekly was possible to deter/lessen the side effects, my last taxol (3 weekly) was july '05 and l'm still suffering with numbness and pain in fingers and feet. Onc and GP tell me they are probably now permanent, so I'm learning to put up with it as a side effect of chemo.

Hi Lisa

I am on 3 weekly Taxol/Herceptin/Carbo also. I have virtually no side effects, and am able to function easily. Makes things a lot easier. Good luck.

Helen - I am also in melbourne, like Chris. I am in Mornington, where are you.

Take care.

Love Lisa

Hello Christine and Lisa

Thank you for your replies, happy to be on the list. I live in Keilor East, not far from Pascoe Vale! It amazes me that this wonderful support group can connect women from all over the world and also you can find friends that live virtually in the next suburb.

Christine, I'm not sure what FEC meant, please excuse my ignorance.
Best wishes Helen

Lee,
I just read in a y-me newsletter that carboplatin caused LESS cardio problems than the Adrimy.mix with Herceptin.
