Question Navelbine

Hello!

I hope everyone is having a happy holiday season! Here's a quick question from my Mom. She has been on navelbine/herceptin/zometa for liver and bone mets since the end of August. Her three month scans were great - the liver tumor was gone and the spot on her spine was shrinking. Her question is for those of you who have taken navelbine, did it make you jumpy and irritable? She says that for several days after her infusion, she's what she calls "navelmean". She says that she seems to have a tremendous amount of anxiety and cannot sleep and tenses up her back and jaw - which causes her a ton of pain. She does take the occasional xanax which does seem to help. Anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions on how to lessen this effect?

Also, she now seems to have many more bad days. Is this the cumulative effect of the chemo? She has her treatment on Wednesdays and had been feeling better by Friday. Now she's feeling crappy (tired and anxiety ridden) through the weekend and only has what she calls two "good day" a week.

Thank you,
Brittany

Brittany,

Your mom should discuss this with her onc on her next visit. Below is a link to the common side effects of navelbine and her condition is not listed.

Warmest Regards
