For your nose ...

I had the same problems, but not to the extent you describe.
For my nose, I used a cotton swab with a little antibacterial salve as this sore is hard to heal and can be a conduit for other germs and lead to flu and sinus infections. Lots of saline spray as well to keep it cleaned out.
There is a product called Zicam, which is also good and will help with healing your nasal passage.

A product called Abreva is supposed to speed up healing time for cold sores if you use it at the first sign.
Keep up the good work, and I hope the you may actually not need the blood tomorrow! I had the same thing - got all typed and ready, but by the next day was OK enough not to need it. My med onc only gives us blood if we can't recover on our own, as the risk of Hepatitus C is greater than he is comfortable with.
