Thumbs up Livestrong Global cancer summit

This is being held here in Dublin Ireland this year and i've been fortunate to have been accepted as a volunteer and partake in a small way of this wonderful event.
I've been meeting/greeting delegates at the airport from Brazil, Uganda and Ethiopia to name only a few countries partaking in this.
It's been a wonderful experience and Lance Armstrong has been cycling around Ireland in the tour ireland race to promote the event.
It brings together health ministers and leaders from so many different countries but all with the same goal, to eradicate this disease !!!
I was thrilled to help out in a small part of this and urge anyone wondering about volunteering to go for it!
It was a great experience

Re: Livestrong Global cancer summit

Tricia,

What a fabulous experience. I have been following the summit on Facebook. It is pretty amazing. I am proud to say that Lance calls my city of Austin, Texas home. I have seen him twice; once, biking in my neighborhood and the second time on the hike and bike trail downtown!

By the way, my husband and I are hoping to visit your beautiful country next year for a bike trip on our 30th wedding anniversary!

Alice

Hi Alice,

Thanks for your reply, and I hope I get to meet up with you when you get to Ireland. You've chosen the best way to see the country by cycling too and its small enough to get around most of it by bike.
Just remember a good rain jacket!

Re: Livestrong Global cancer summit

Thanks everyone for your replies and comments.
Sheila, I could have met him without knowing it, the delegates did'nt have to give their name at the airport but just state which hotel they were staying in. I just ensured (along with many other's) they had a warm welcome and were seen safely onto the coaches.!
Every single person we met were very kind and delighted to be part of the event...many just wanted to have a nap and were suffering from jet lag!!

Re: Livestrong Global cancer summit

I just heard on the news that Lance Armstrong posted on twitter that he was having a cycle around one of our biggest parks if anyone would like to join him.
More than a thousand people turned up this evening !!!
