how long for Herceptin

Although I have been reading this site, and found it really helful and reassuring, since April 06 when I started my year of Herceptin, this is my first post. I am (I would imagine) considered 'early stage' and am ER+ Oe+ P- and no lymph node involment. I have also just embarked upon a five year Arimidex course. My question is - what happens when I stop Herceptin? If it is doing all these good things at the moment, won't they all start up again when I stop? I am I suppose really looking forward to finishing but also a little frightened. Any words of wisdom would be gratefully received. Many, many thanks. Jane (in France!)

Hi Jane,

I finished my Herceptin in December 2006, and I felt exactly the same as you. I felt like the Herceptin was my life support. My onc told me not to worry. Besides, the Arimidex will help fight the cancer from coming back also. I was on Arimidex, but I had bone pain really bad from it, so I switched to Femara.

Don't worry, you will be fine.
