children, special christmas gifts

I had been trying to have children for years and was still trying to concieve when I was recently digonsed. This Christmas reconfirmed to me that after all this I will keep trying and possibly look into adoption and this is the reason. The children in our lives are so precious. I want to quote 2 special gifts I received from 2 children in my life this season. (both of these were done with no special input from mom or dad) complete with misspellings

Erin Vargo (my neice) age 8, beautiful folded and crayon covered card read:

If I were a gift: I would be medicine. I would give me to my Aunt Laurie. It would help her surive cancer. I am a blue and red striped pill. You would have to take me 3 times a day. One in the morning, one in the afternoon, and one at night. I would give you the best kind of medicine that I could be. I am going to give me to you because I care and I love you very much and I want you to get better.

Letter to Santa in local paper from Morgan Crum (my neighbor) age 6

Dear Santa: For Christmas I want bongo jeans, advance game boy games and Guess Who, new little luveables fluffy factory please. I want Mrs. Laurie to fill better. Merry Christmas Love, Morgan

Those are the dearest messages!

And I sit here perusing the posts savoring the CHEESECAKE that my 14-year-old grandson made. He went to the website called Epicurious.com and decided on this particular recipe and it turned out great with a little help from his Dad!

As Art Linklatter quipped, "Kids Say the Darndest Things" - and DO them as well.

Think I will have another small helping!

Children are such a blessing, and they always think of others before themselves....sometimes we as adults need to be reminded of that. A close friend of mine was diagnosed at 29 with BC. Like you, she was trying to get pregnant, and got a surprise diagnosis. She had a lumpectomy, chemo and rads....just when she thought everything was behind her, she found another lump. This time she had a double mastectomy, Taxol and reconstruction. She had finished the Taxol, and 2 mos later went to the Dr. as she was still dealing with nausea. She was pregnant...then began a worried 8 months hoping the baby would be OK. 9 Months later she gave birth to a perfect little girl...she is truly the mascot for the BC support group I belong to....don't give up hope....there are little miracles around every corner.

Kids are the most precious things. And just when you think you can't love anymore then you have a grandbaby come along. My granddaughter was born in April, and when she was just 3 weeks old my daughter got kidney stones and we got to keep her for a weekend while my daughter was in the hospital. Ever since then we've had her for at least 3 weekends of every month. Except now they are moving to Kentucky to live with her other grandma, and I feel like my heart is breaking. So whenever you get the chance, give lots of hugs to t5he kids in your lifew who mean something to you.

Baby after breast cancer

I was diagnosed at age 31 while trying to conceive. At diagnosis I was Stage 3b her2+++. So I had ACT chemo and then one year later I got pregnant and miscarried. I then had a brain met. Well the good news is I am not on Herceptin, cancer free for 2 years and my husband and I had a baby boy via gestational surrogacy and are planning on doing it again! I believe in living your dreams.
