Sheila, my heart really goes out to you, everyone deserves a vacation.

I often wonder of the wisdom of a "drug holiday" with stage 4........it seems that when the drugs are on holidays, the cancer works harder. If you don't respond to herceptin alone, as most don't; maybe consider entering a targetted or biological or vaccine therapy trial during that holiday.

Al, you mentioned here that most don't respond to Herceptin alone and this concerns me. I just finished 4 rounds of a/c and just began herceptin. i am not taking anything else with it other than radiation. am i to believe that herceptin is not going to do anything for me. i am stage I node negative her2+ er/pr-. My onc felt I didn't need taxol.

Dx:3/06 had a lumpectomy April 19, 2006
Her2+ er/pr- Stage I Grade 3 tumor size 1.4 cm, node negative
AC 4 dense doses
34 radiation treatments including booster doses
receiving herceptin every 3 weeks since late August 2006 for 12 months

Whew! I was about to get good and discouraged. Thanks for clearing things up for me. I am not one to panick but sometimes all you read on hear is the bad stuff and it can be so scary. Next time I won't jump to conclusions.
