Hi all,

Sharing a little bit of this and a little bit of that. Yesterday I went and met my brand new oncologist. He was awesome and I am happy I choose him. I told him that hopefully he and I don't develop too close of a relationship as I don't plan on going down this road - ie - chemo, radiation etc. ever again. God willing. He laughed and said "that is always our hope as well." Also, I don't have to see him again for 6 whole months (since I'm over the 2 year hurdle) and that made me really happy.

Today, I went and had a pink ribbon tattooed on the left side of my foot. Right below the pinkie toe - about 1/2 inch down. The tattoo itself is about 1 inch in height by 1/2 inch wide. I love it. It reminds me of ALL the life changing things that have happened to me since breast cancer. All the many blessings - wonderful people and the Peace the Lord has given to me.

Hugs to all,

Mary Jo

Glad that you like your new onc. Did getting the tatoo there hurt? How are you wearing shoes? When I got mine on the back of my shoulder I had to watch what I wore because it felt like I'd gotten a really bad sunburn.

That is great news that you felt at ease with the new onc., and even better news that you don't have to return for 6 months. Love the idea of the tattoo....something I've always wanted, but never done....had my chance when the plastic surgeon wanted to tattoo a nipple on me...I figure I am holding out for something better than a nipple...like a palm tree, a smiley face....anybody can get a nipple! Guess I need to take a flight to Miami...I would love to get mine done by Miami Ink. Someday....I will get it!

Juanita,

I can wear shoes and socks in 3 days I was told. It's summertime now though so flip flops work just fine. I have no pain at all. It doesn't feel like a "sunburn" or anything for that matter. It is really small, so that is probably why.

how strange, I was just thinking today that
I am ready for my first tattoo. I have so many things I want I don't know what to get. I have been a huge U2 fan since I was a pre-teen and their music got me through a lot this past year. My 21 yr old nephew got a tattoo of my initials in Dec and did not know what I would think anout it. I told him as long as it does not have my birth year and death year I am okay with it. Plus I also want a pink ribon and a purple ribbon for lymphedema. So I to figure out how to incorporate U2, my nephews initials DJB and a pink and purple ribbon.

was this your first tat?

Yep Laurie, This was my first tattoo. Never ever thought I'd get one. Funny how life changes us huh? Our oldest son came home with a tattoo 10 years ago and I about had a fit. NOW, he and his wife came over last night to see his mom & dad's tattoo's. Hahahahahahaha!
