Docs etc. won't look at this sight or, when they do, say it's largely misinformed. They also suggest I am paranoid about her-2 in a T2NoMo setting. I don't think my mom will go for chemo when no one(local or Mayo) recommends it. And I don't feel like I can tell her "hey, I saw it in an internet forum". It just seems there are no clear answers..all is "in the works". I guess my mom's moderate emphysema and age (67) trumps other treatment considerations. HT and Rads seems like the way it will go.

Rich, I found an interesting article that addresses your questions, the link is below... I think you are right in that you're going to find mostly resistance to "aggressive" treatment for your mom given her age and other health problems, but this is a thoughtful article weighing the pro's and con's of chemo in the elderly taking all under consideration. Hope this is helpful, but in the end it's going to be up to your mom, and if she's following her doc's lead and they're reluctant to subject her to the rigors of chemo, you'll probably have to just accept it. Any way, I take umbrage at the doctors who you say find this site "misinformed"! Tell them from me that my oncologist who is the very best does not find ME misinformed!

Lolly, that was an interesting article. Thanks for posting it. My mother had breast cancer when she was 82 years old and they didn't give her chemotherapy because they thought she was too fraile. but she had surgery and radiation. After going through ,y chemotherapy, she probably was too fraile. However, I'll be 60 years old in March and I never thought about being excluded from trials because of my age. That's a frightening thought, to be denied certain treatments because of a certain age barrier. I just never thought about it. Right now I'm NED but you never know with this disease when it will return.

Bonnie, I never thought about an age barrier either, I'm 51, but at least the vaccine trials only age criteria seems to be that one is at least 18, so no prob there, eh?!
