Going from cobra to medicare ins.

I know after you have been on disability for 2 years, you become eligible for medicare. I've got a couple months to go and I'm wondering about the medicare insurance. I am under 65, do I still get choices of the parts I will be covered under? I can't afford a secondary insurance, but what parts of medicare do I need to cover my prescriptions, oncologists, hospitals & on & on. My cobra ins. is $440.00 a month, hopefully medicare will be cheaper, but I'm just worried will it cover what I need. Those of you on medicare, please tell me what to expect.

Wink Going from cobra to medicare insurance

Medicare plan D is for prescription medicine picked up at a pharmacy. Medicare Plan A is for hospital services. Plan B is for doctor's visits and some other services. If you use all three services I would advise you to make sure you have all three plans.
The monthly premiums might be less than what you are paying now, depending on which Plan D plan you choose. I think you can contact Medicare or go to the Medicare website to get information about the various Plan D plans available in your area.
If your income is not great you may be able to apply for Medicaid too. Medicare might be able to give you infomation about how to apply for Medicaid if you think you may need it.
