In searching for covid’s therapeutics, the most important thing is be very persistent (but very polite) and prepare for lots of time waiting on the phone. No health provider has time or staff to do this, yourself or your champion has to do this search. Keep in mind that many health professionals (nurses, physicians, pharmacists, etc) are not even aware of Evusheld.
There are two web sites to search for Covid’s therapeutics, the official government site (
https://covid-19-therapeutics-locato...ub.arcgis.com/) and commercial site (goodrx.com). On the government site, be patient for the pages to FINISH loading. Click on “Therapeutic Selector” box at the upper right corner and select Evusheld from the drop-down list. Click on the magnifying glass symbol to activate the location search box. Enter your zip code in the search box and confirm by click on listed area. Locations that has Evusheld in the selected area are listed on the right hand side. You need to go back to this sequence to search another city/area. Note that the user interface might change from time to time, so look for similar fields and steps if the info described above do not match completely.
As you go through the availability list, for large institutions (hospitals, etc), there is no info on who to call. Almost 100% of the time, the operator does not know either, so ask to talk to someone in these departments: pharmacy, covid line, covid ward, incoming patient triage, employee health. People there likely also do not know about Evusheld. Be sure to spell out the drug name fully, and mention that it’s a prophylactic covid drug. Don’t take the first “no”, but be very polite, people are stressed out and might have a bad day.
Once you locate somebody who knows about Evusheld, you will likely be told that Evusheld is only available for current or past patients at that institution. If you had been at that institution in the past for test, scanning, rehab, etc mention this and you might qualify. Before going there, you need a prescription from your doctor, and be sure to ask the institution to verify that they actually have dosage on hand. Also be sure to know the qualification (see fact sheet link below) requirement for the drug.
The availability list is updated weekly, and available locations (new and old) get on and off based on how they respond to government weekly reporting requests. Keep a copy of the list each week. Don’t get discouraged if you see 0 in the quantity field. Call that location anyway.
Incidentally, pharmacy might not be aware of expiration date of Evusheld has just been extended. Also it’s a two shots one to each side of the buttock, then wait an hour for any reaction, so be sure a pharmacy has a facility to do this.
