Checking in
Hello her2 sisters.....It’s been a while since I checked in with you all. How are you? I will never forget you ladies and how important and helpful you were to me when I was new and struggling with my cancer diagnosis, my treatment AND my fears. I have reached 15 years since my diagnosis in June. Man, I remember back and hoped and prayed I’d reach 5 years. How time and life changes.
I’d love to hear how each of you my old friends and any new friends are doing.
Blessings and Thanks....
Mary Jo

Re: Checking in
Hi Mary Jo. I don't visit here as often nowadays either but I was very pleased to see your post. There was a time when I was on this site every day...sometimes twice...and I have gained such a lot from it. Sadly, it does not seem to be as active as before but I stll check in occassionally. Best wishes to you for the future. Nancy

Hoping to start Herceptin within the next 2 weeks (we have to follow the HERA protocol to qualify for Herceptin in the U.K.) I worry about the delay in starting Herceptin!! Started 8/10/07

Re: Checking in
Hey there, Mary Jo!
Good to hear from you! Hope your Thanksgiving was pleasant. Like you, I do not get on here as faithfully as in the past. Life gets in the way. Like you, I am doing well at soon to be 13 years post diagnosis. Time does fly.
Glad you popped by. Wishing you continued health and happiness.

Re: Checking in
Happy Holidays! I check in almost daily but don't post a lot. I am doing well but vigilant about staying covid safe. I have a 8 month old grandson. I am a Grandma and 16 years ago would not have imagined that when my kids were still in middle school. Its exciting to go thru all the developmental stages again.
And Her2 cancer treatments have also developed along the way too. We still don't have a cure but everyday we are a little bit closer. Love to all of you!

Re: Checking in
Congrats, Mary Jo on being 15 years out! I am now 14 years out, and like many of us, I don't check in as often as I did when first diagnosed.
This site was a lifeline during my diagnosis, and years of treatment.
all the best,
caya

Re: Checking in
Nice to hear from you all and I'm so happy you are all doing well too! I will be 16 years out this June and in all honestly, it hardly feels like cancer was ever a part of my life. I'm not sure why, but it seems like it happened to someone else and not me. Do any of you feel that way? I was 45 when I was diagnosed and am now 61. Me and my husband are now grandparents to 5, ages, 20 down to 3. I will be working one more school year as a secretary at the school I work at and then I am retiring. Life sure has a way of moving along and quickly at that.
Life has been good to me and God has been (and is) good always. Breast cancer was something that definitely changed me and changed me for the better. I learned to appreciate life and to appreciate it daily, because as each of us knows, it can change in a blink of an eye. I learned what was truly most important and I learned to say and do the things you want to say and do right now, because once again, our life can change in a blink of an eye.
I'd love to hear about how these years have been for each of you? For those who are in the midst of the struggle, please know, my prayers are with you and I when I think back, I can remember well all that you are going through.
God Bless each of you....my fellow sisters on the journey.

Re: Checking in
I am finally a grandma myself. My grandson just turned 1 years old on March 11. I am your age. I will probably still work a few more years. My 3 daughters are settled but only the one is married. Life goes on. Just waiting for my turn to get a covid vaccine. Life moves forward
