Steph is on the mend!

Steph called me tonight and she sounds great...really on the mend. She said the operation went as planned; she had a difficult time sleeping in the ICU but is in a private room tonight and hopes to get some sleep. She has been up and walking...Pathology results won't be in until next week. She thinks she will be able to log on by Sunday night to give us the details. Welcome back to good health, Steph!
Love, Kim from CT

That's the best news I've heard for weeks.

I just got up and the first thing I did was log on to hear if there was any news. I'm so thrilled that Steph has this behind her. This is the best news of the day. Steph, I have been thinking of you. I had my treatment on Thursday and I told Dr. Parker that you were having surgery that day.
Best wishes and heal!!!

Steph,

You're a fighter and I had no doubt you'd be back in business before too long. We're all pulling for great results. Take good care of yourself.

Love and light,

Lisa

Wink Thanks so much ...

... for all the positives from this wonderful group of human beings.
Yes, I am home - arrived early afternoon after fighting our way through U of W basketball game traffic (the arena is near the hospital).
My neck is VERY stiff and now soreness radiates in shoulders and chest making it hard to sleep on my sides now that all the anesthesia is wearing off.

My incision is right up the center of my head and I have staples there. My head does not actually hurt as in a headache, but it is the stiffness and effort to hold my neck up. One of the neuro docs said there would be a lot of bruising of tissues and I also feel it in my jaw and under my chin. Does not stop me from eating tho.

Otherwise I feel good and all bodily functions are working as they should. I have not been on much narcotic pain med so that also helps.
Just wanted to post that I am home and NOT on decadron as the postop MRI looked good in regards to any swelling or inflammation. They gave me the dreaded "D" for 2 days then said I could cut back then quite it cold turkey like. They said this is OK if you have only been on that steroid for a very short time. So far, so good.

Have to go find a comfortable position and lie down again.
Happy Sunday to you all!

oh Steph.... I'd be taking any and all pain meds if I was in your place, with my head under the blankets a and a box of kleenix for company... You are amazing.

Would extra pillows around you do any good? A recliner? For sure OTC type pain meds if you don't want the complications of opiates...

oh man.......

I am glad the dreaded "D" is behind you so quickly!

Am tucking in some hugs, but they're real gentle...

Thumbs up

Hi Steph,
I'm so glad that you are back home and resting. There is no place like home to do that. I'm also happy that you don't have to continue with the Decadron. To me that was the hardest which is why I found surgery in some ways easier than stereotactic surgery. Tylenol was enough to help any discomfort that I felt. You will be feeling better each day.
Best wishes,
Barbara H.

Take it easy, my friend. When you're feeling up to it, I'd be interested to know what they discovered. Until then, rest, rest, rest.

Love and light,

Glad to "see" you, Steph!

With your usually busy stride, I hope things are quiet enough to let you get some rest. A head is a heavy thing to haul around -- I bet you'd love to feel "lightheaded" right now...

It takes a while to get back up to speed, and and you stay busier than most so don't try too much too fast. We'll be here.

Steph, I'm so glad to see you're home, and even though uncomfortable I'm sure it's great to be there rather than in hospital. You take it easy, and I'm sending my well wishes your way
