Omega 3 FA's and L-Carnitine?

Hello All-

My onc advised me to stop Herceptin recently after my LVEF dropped from 60 to "between 40 and 50". I have had 10 weekly doses, including the loading dose as comitant tx with carbo and taxotere following AC as adjuvent tx. I was dx with stage IIIC. ER/PR- her2+ (5.16 FISH).

I met with a nutritionist on Thursday. She has recommended 200mg, then 300mg of COQ10. She also suggested taking an L-Carnitine supplement. I am aware that L-Carnitine effects the ability of fatty acids crossing the mitochondrial membrane to allow for the oxidation of fats.

Any advice or studies on the relationship between Her2 and L-Carnitine, with focus on the Omega 3s?

Two links found from a quick search.

One general information.

One trials with some relation to subject including c-erbB -2.

One link to whey protein. I have seen several trials suggesting positive results. Most of the sports community take whey and a look at the product lists show l-carnitine is added. You might want to look into it further and discuss with your advisor. From memory the percusors of l-carnitine are preent in whey. I will check.
