herceptin question
is there anything that helps with the horrible body aches and restlessness that comes from the herceptin? I'm finding it so hard to sleep or even get comfortable enough to sit through a half hour tv show. it seems to get worse after every treatment

Does your treatment facility offer acupuncture? I received ear acupuncture on a weekly basis and it got rid of the aches.
Can you get anyone to give you a nice massage? Or find a professional massage therapist. Swedish massage would feel lovely, help alleviate the aches and restlessness.
Have you tried meditation - maybe one with just a focus on your breathing and a simple phrase like "I feel peaceful" or "I feel calm" or pick something that appeals to you. Try it for 5 to 15 minutes.
A physician recommend resetting a stress reaction by breathing in slowly for a count of 4, holding the breath for a count of 2 - then slowly breathe out. Repeat 8 times.

How long have you been on herceptin....I've been on it for over a year and the body aches are tolerable

Oct 2015 dendritic cell vaccine university of Pennsylvania..6 weekly injections...boosters every 3 months
July 2015 stopped weekly taxol (2.5 years of weekly taxol) still on herceptin perjeta every 3 weeks..still ned
Jun 2014 liver ablation of 1 liver tumor..now ned
Jun 28, 2013 ca15-3 24, cea 3.8... Pet scan showed 2 liver tumors with intensity of 2.7 and 2.5 (11/13 intensity was 8.0)
Jan 2013 herceptin, perjeta every 3weeks, taxol weekly
Jan 2013 MRI showed 3 liver tumors doubled in size ca-15 is 55 end of month 71, cea 7
Dec 2012. Pet scan showed single liver nodule, having MRI liver on dec18th...MRI liver 3tumors... on herceptin, tykerb , fulvestrant ca-15-3 is 42
Sept 2012 ca-15 went from 85 to 35, pet scan showed decrease
May 2012 herceptin every 3 weeks, 1500 tykerb daily (6pills) and fulvestrant every 3 wks
May 2012 herceptin stopped working ca-15 is 85
Sept 2011 started herceptin every 3 wks and femara daily..mets to liver. Bone and lymph nodes
2011 liver mets...all samples from 2001 and 2010 reviewed...her2 positive, fish 5.4. Er positive, prog neg. Stage 4 breast ca...never was lung cancer
2010 16 weeks of chemotherapy for lung cancer (incorrect). Carboplatin and vinalbine...was actually breast ca mets
2010 misdiagnosed with lung cancer ..2cm tumor removed..lower right lobe removed
2001-2006 tamoxifen
2001. Ductal ca. Rt mastectomy

I found that glucosamine helped me. My pain was horrible while on herceptin but now I am doing pretty well. I am a year out of herceptin now and have very little pain. I have continued on the glucosamine since I am told the femara also causes joint pain. I also take calcium plus d and 5000mg of vit d. It has worked for me but everyone is different. DX Sept 30 2010 at the age of 49. Oh crap! 1.5 cm idc, stage 1 grade 3 er/pr+, her2+ no lymph nodes, mastectomy Oct/10. Started 6 rounds of TCH Dec/10 and will continue herceptin until Nov /11 and just started femara.
Stray kitten found my lump while I was playing with it. It is now my pet and my dog is not real happy about that.

04/27/12 Expander removed, implant put in, ahh sigh of relief, much more comfortable
