Friend with BC who is having Vision Issues

Hi! I was looking for some advice. I have a friend who just completed chemotherapy and is in the midst of radiation for Stage II BC (ER/PR-, HER2-). She is currently having vision problems. Dizziness at times and now has a completely different prescription in one of her eyes. Instead of talking to her oncologist, she went to her eye doctor and he said it has to do with the way her eye lids are drooping (from being tired). She also has formed a stymatism (not sure if I spelled it correctly). I was wondering if anyone has had the same type of reaction? Should she be worried about other things? Thanks!

Since she is dizzy and has a different eye prescription she might want to ask her oncologist for an MRI of the head to see what might be causing the problems. Our eyes are in our heads and can be affected by what is going on in there.
Take care.

Re: Friend with BC who is having Vision Issues

I was told chemo would effect my eye sight and not to get new glasses beforehand.

I definatly needed a new prescription when finished and just spoke to someone else today who has blurred vision from her chemo.
It may be a good idea to check out the dizzyness but think she'll find it's another side affect!

Re: Friend with BC who is having Vision Issues

I too had vision changes while undergoing chemo (blurry vision) and also was told to wait until way after chemo to see if that did not correct itself. That said...I do wonder about the eyes being different and I don't buy the Dr's reasoning of different prescription because the eyelid(s) are drooping. I could see that impeding your field of vision but don't understand how that would relate to blurry vision. I would definitely mention it to my onc and it may totally benign just like Elaine said. I just rather be on the safe side.

Re: Friend with BC who is having Vision Issues

I had blurry vision during chemotherapy but no dizziness. I am currently in radiation treatment and my vision is improving.
