Ali-
I have a personal success story that I would like to share with your new friend!I was dx'd May 2002, 33 years old, Stage IV IDC-liver mets.Actually it was just a single liver met, but quickly advanced to "multiple, inumerable" after a failed attempt to treat w/Navelbine+Herceptin. My 2nd tx combo was a clinical trial for 6 months, but once I finised that tx,I progressed again. Finally 12 weeks of Taxol+Herceptin & I was NED!That was 8 1/2 months ago!Life is good! Hair is better!
I also felt very alienated at support groups-always the youngest, always the most advanced-but have found incredible support, kindness, information & sisterhood here.
Please encourage your friend to keep the faith! We are the changing faces of breast cancer survival.
And BRAVO to you for your incredible swim!
Prayers, faith & courage!
