I'm a nervous wreck..
Not sure whats happen to my soul..use to think i was a strong women now not so sure. My ooph is scheduled for next thursday. My muga score passed so thats it...surgery is a go. So why am i fretting do much about this surgery. I feel like i made it through a nine hour surgery this should be walk in the park. Guess a part of me was hoping i would not have to be intubated for this.
I watch to many medical shows. I will shake my self off and get back on that horse but i wish..i was finished riding. On a better note..I have new nipples but they don't light up !! I think i'm tired..thats it...i'm tired of this

You are completely normal feeling this way...as a nurse, i am totally the biggest chicken in the world when it comes to ANYTHING medical or surgery....its natural....as a medical person, I know more than I want to, have been in on many surgeries when I worked...anyway, take a few deep breaths, look at it as a healing surgery, which for you it will be, no surgery is ever without thought, but you have been through so much already, even with intubation, this will be a cakewalk....bet they will do it with a laproscope...it won't take long. Sending you a big brave hug...

..It just plain stinks Suzanne and I am so sorry! I seem to have gotten more surgery shy with every surgery (6 in the last year) so i get it. One time I was having a really short surgery and the Nurse anesthetist said that they could use a small tube (LMG maybe) that wouldnt bother my throat so much afterwards...they did, and she was right! Perhaps you could ask about this?

Sorry you are having to stress about this, but just think, when this is over you won't have to worry about supression. And you will be one step closer to getting thru. It gets easier, just hang in there.

You reminded me of something a very wise therapist once told me --- when we are ill we regress. That's why women always complain about men being the biggest babies when they are sick. They are just being authentic. I always get that "I want my mommy" feeling when I don't feel well.

2002 recurrence. Bilateral mastectomy w/TFL autologous recon. Then ACx2. Skin lymphatic rash. Taxotere w/Herceptin x4. Herceptin/Xeloda. Finally stops spreading.
2003 - Back to surgery, remove skin mets, and will have surgery one week later when pathology can confirm margins.

FEB 2014 PetCT clinical “impression”: 1. newbie nodule - SUV 1.5 right apical nodule, mildly hypermetabolic “suggestive” of worsening neoplastic lesion. 2. moderate worsening of the sternum – SUV 5.6 from 3.8
3. increasing sclerosis & decreasing activity of L1 met “suggests” mild healing. (SUV 9.4 v 12.1 in May ‘13)
4. scattered lung nodules, up to 5mm in size = stable, no increased activity
5. other small scattered sclerotic lesions, one in right iliac and one in thoracic vertebral body similar in appearance to L1 without PET activity and not clearly pathologic

12/27/19 - begin ds8401a w nivolumab. after 2nd cycle nodes melt away. after 3rd cycle chest scan shows Improvement, brain MRI shows improvement, resolved areas & nothing new. switch to plain ENHERTU. after 4th cycle, PETscan shows mostly resolved or improved results. Markers near normal. I'm stunned but grateful.
10/26/20 - June 2021 Tucatinib/xeloda/herceptin - stable ish.

thank you all...i feel so much better once i just spill. When i hear fr you strong women i absorb your strength. A good nights sleep also helps greatly.
My new nipples are less sore today so that all has lessen the load...Its one more surgery. I will get through this and soon it will be in the past. Again thankyou you guys .
My extended family doesnot really get all of this. Plus i have decided not to share this surgery with my children.I just can't bare to tell them, to see how scared they will be. Even after the talking is all done..they will worry, while reading into things are just not there.
Do you think its wrong to shelter them from this one?
I told them about the nine hr one..but this can't they have a
reprieve? This has also been on my mind.
My children are finally in a good space.My son has developed mild anxiety from the whole cancer story.
Now they are all happy, doing well.

I had to write and lend my support. It is a crappy disease and the first year is the worst year because something medical is always going on. PLUS, its hard to be positive when you are having pain in the place that started the whole mess (your breast - nipple reconstruction) and that you are facing the last surgical leg of the journey. I can assure you of one thing though, the ooph is like nothing. You will be alittle tired and alittle sore. If you feel a bit nauseous in the recovery room, DON'T be brave. There is an anti nausea drug that they inject right into the IV and the effect is instanteous. Oddly, with all my breast surgeries I never felt sick afterwards but I did after the ooph. I braved it out and then later barfed and then they gave me that drug in the IV and I was off on my way home within 30 minutes. This is just a tip IF you feel alittle sick. You will be back on track in no time.
I just wanted you to know that I am thinking about you and your children. This is it Mimiflower girl! Some more Herceptin infusions to help you over that last hump and you're off on your own. Since you've been on your own before, you know you can do it again (and we will be there rooting for you).

Suzanne, about a yr ago I had an oophorectomy via laparoscopy. I live in Hawaii, but had it done in California since all my drs are up there along with most of my family. I flew into CA on Dec 20th, had it done as an out-pton Dec 22nd and I think I was in the hospital in and out the door in maybe 3 hrs. Then on Christmas day I flew back to Hawaii to spend the rest of Christmas with my family.
For me it was really easy.

Suzanne, Your feelings are pretty normal in my opinion. I always get nervous before any type of surgery. I had an ooph last year and let me tell you...it was a piece of cake compared to my MRM and simple mastectomy.
Checked in about two hours before surgery...taken to the OR...next thing you know I was awake and it was all done. I was home in a few hrs afterwards. Had little to no pain at all and was able to eat and everything. I felt pretty darned good all things considered. On day three I was completely back to normal.
I had a laparoscopic ooph also like most woman have. So even though it's easier said then done...try not to worry. Everything will be ok. You hang in there...keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

Diagnosed stage 2b in July 2003 (2.3 cm, HER2+, ER-/PR-, 7+ nodes). Treated with mastectomy (with immediate DIEP flap reconstruction), AC + T/Herceptin (off label). Cancer advanced to lung in Jan. 2007 (1 cm nodule). Started Herceptin every 3 weeks. Lung wedge resection April 2007. Cancer recurred in lung April 2008. RFA of lung in August 2008. 2nd annual brain MRI in Oct. 2008 discovered 2.6 cm cystic tumor in left frontal lobe. Craniotomy Oct. 2008 (ER-/PR-/HER2-) followed by targeted radiation (IMRT). Coughing up blood Feb. 2009. Thoractomy July 2009 to cut out fungal ball of common soil fungus (aspergillus) that grew in the RFA cavity (most likely inhaled while gardening). No cancer, only fungus. Removal of tiny melanoma from upper left arm, plus sentinel lymph node biopsy in Feb. 2016. Guardant Health liquid biopsy in Feb. 2016 showed mutations in 4 subtypes of TP53. Repeat of Guardant Health biopsy in Jana. 2021 showed 3 TP53 mutations, BRCA1 mutation and CHEK2 mutation. Invitae genetic testing showed negative for all of these. Living with MBC since 2007. Stopped Herceptin Hylecta (injection) treatment in March 2020. Recent 2021 annual CT of chest, abdomen and pelvis and annual brain MRI showed NED. Praying for NED forever!!

Diagnosed June, 06, Stage I, Grade3, ER+PR- Her2positive, No Nodes. A/C X 4. Radiation 33 with boost, Herceptin every two weeks until Nov.
07, Arimedex for 5 years. Mugas and Echo and chest xRay. Bone scan of whole Body, and Back of Brain and spine MRI.
CT scan of Lungs every six months
due to two small places. December
2009, bone scan due to bone pain.
Follow up test in 2010.
