taxotere lawsuit

Has anyone else heard about the class action lawsuit just underway regarding Taxotere and permanent hair loss? Apparently the manufacturer has changed the side effect warnings to include potential for permanent hair loss. My hair has started to come back, however I have 2 bald spots on the top, hair is thin overall and slow growth doesn't begin to describe how slow it is growing. My eyebrows are barely there and eye lashes are very skimpy. I have no idea what a class action law suit entails or if I want to go any further looking into it and if partial hair loss qualifies, etc. Any insight is appreciated.

Lightbulb Re: taxotere lawsuit

There are a number of websites referring to this problem and legal action.

Some firm may be taking up a class action suit, which are easy to join, but a person gets little at the end.

This is a quote from one site:

"Dramatic Hairloss
When given third weekly, Taxotere always causes dramatic hair loss, including the scalp, eyebrows, eyelashes and other body hair. Hair loss occurs about 3-4 weeks after the first dose. While alopecia associated with typical chemotherapy treatments is temporary, over 6% of patients given Taxotere now have permanent hair loss."

I took that drug on the every three week schedule and have thinner hair, eyebrows and eyelashes 15 years later. Also, NO hair ever grew back under my arms, which I don't really miss!

Re: taxotere lawsuit

I have no first hand experience regarding any kind of law suit and hope to remain inexperienced the remainder of my life. However, I am a huge fan of Mike Papantonio. His firm, Levin-Papantonio is involved in this suit. He is not an opportunistic ambulance chaser. He really cares about his clients and making companies do the right thing by thoroughly researching their products and disclosing any dangers or long term negative effects of the product. His firm was involved in the first successful cases against the tobacco industry. It might be worth a phone call to his firm. Please keep us posted on what you find out.

Re: taxotere lawsuit

I joined one of the lawsuits. I have no hair on the top of my head and only very thin hair on the sides and back.
I don't know how much hair loss you have to have. I would just call them. I just had to fill out some paperwork, including a medical release and send in pictures .
