DonaldDonald,

I am currently enrolled in the trial. I have had 2 vaccines that consisted of 3 shots each vaccine. I will get another vaccine at the end of the month.

You can find trial requirements by going to the University of Washington web site.

Amelia,

It is so glad to hear from you!
I am now on contact with the group for my wife, and we need more opinions to make a decsion.
By the way, as we live in Macao, it is so far to go to Seattle to have that vaccine trial. It is a hard decsion for us!
What is the most important information of the vaccine to make your selection?
thanks for sharing and wish you good health!
Keep it up! we all need this!

Ellie,
As I checked the internet, there should be different groups working at different vaccines! they might have the same idea or model, but anyway there is a little bit different some how.

internationaly patient

They said they welcome international patients as well, but for us, the medical insurance would be a real problem, cause we are "insurance free" there.
The medical fee is high there!
Let's look into that hand in hand! and keep in touch!
don't give up!
and, Amelia, We need your help to tell us more experience, please keep in touch also, thanks!
with good wishes!

DonaldDonald,

You do not need medical insurance to take the vaccine. You have to pay to get here and where you are going to stay.

Your doctor at home could assist with the scans and other medical information.

Thanks Donald and schoolteacher. I am due to see a new onc in a couple of weeks (after a lot of hassle to get a second opinion-it really feels sometimes that fighting the disease is only half the battle)and intend to take the vaccine info with me to see what he thinks and to get as much info from him as possible.Good to hear that we may be able to get into this trial as I don't have insurance but could cover travel costs etc.Ellie

Dear Amelia and Ellie,

It is lucky to have you two together to share with me!
I can manage our travel and lodging though it is so expensive for me, but friends keep telling me that the medical expense is so high in U.S. so if my wife should have any uncomfortable, it would be a financial disaster for us.
That hold me dare not to have any decision about the trial but just keeping contact with the gourp and wait to see.
And Also both my wife and me never travel to U.S. or England, going so far to settle down for a medical trial is really a challenge.
Besides, we have a 8-years old boy to take care too, that also is our consideration.
Lots of things for me to think over and over, that keep me can't sleep every night !
Let's see if I could conquer all and let my wife have a possible cure.
Thanks again! keep in touch!

Amelia,

Could you tell me more about the trial? May be in private Message?
How long you stay in Seattle every time?
Where to stay? How much it cost?
How do you feel after the vaccine?
How about the Leukapheresis?

Really thanks for your help, for I never been in U.S. that the trip would be an adventure for me.

Donald: Have you looked into the vaccine trials at John Hopkins in Baltimore, Maryland. I understand a new trial was slated for this spring and they have had several others. Dr. Leisha Emens heads the vaccine research and trials.

I hope this is helpful in some way.

Wishing and sending you my best...Darlene in Virginia Beach

Darlene: Thanks for concerning and the helpful information! I will check the trial out if it is suitable for my wife.
But most of the trial only accept patients in NO progressing situation, so it is hard to find a vaccine trial for my wife.
Thank you again and keep in touch! take care!

Donald: I noticed a previous post that indicated your wife was on Tykerb. I am not familar with her entire history, but how about the TDM1 trials?

Forgive me if I am bringing up info you already are aware of, just hoping something might be right for your wife.

Take care

Darlene

Wink anyone on this ? - New Peptide - Based Vacine Trial opened with the Tumor Vaccine Gro

This made be way off center, but I am wondering if there is anything at the University of Washington website directing patients from other areas to low cost temporary housing in the area? There must be someone there who can advise patients about those things.

Here is a link from the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance website regarding lodging and transportation.

http://www.seattlecca.org/scca-housi...sportation.cfm

Long term (2 weeks to a month+) housing starts at about $800.00 a month and goes up from there. They do have many options and many of the hotels offer special rates to those receiving cancer treatment. My secretary's daughter works at SCCA and I have a lifelong friend that works at Fred Hutchinson. I'm sure they must have special programs for people seeking treatment. Let me know if I can be of any help.

Thanks for all the warm hearts here!
My wife is now having Vinorelbine injection and Tykerb now, so it seems our plan to apply for Seattle Trial must be wait and see! and, actually I don't know which Trial would be the best suit for her.
As we have government medicine support here in Macao and no support in the U.S., so we will check very carefully before decision making, it must be something more promising.
How about the NeuVax? Is it almost done? Would it be on the market within one year? and Is there a trial open for patients?

We spoke with Genentech representatives at the AACR meeting in Denver.

They will be opening new trials shortly with more lenient criteria so your wife may qualify. Keep a lookout.
