Re: First mets scare since '05:(

Ah, yes don't we long for the days when a backache was just a backache...

Seems like the sudden onset is more of a symptom of doing something innocuous that pinched a disk. Good for you for getting it checked out (and congratulations on learning to stretch the truth to get what you want from your doctor)!

When you find out its not anything cancer related, try and recover quickly so you can handle that new grandchild! My husband and I are visiting Scotland the last week in Sept - I'll keep my eyes out for the proud grandmum with the slightly tweaked back!

Take care
Chris

Dear Tricia - it sounds like you are in a better place emotionally now, do so understand the panic and fear the thought of mets invokes. But I really do agree with all that you most probably have no need to worry too much, and am sending out my prayers for a quick resolution to the problem.
Hugs,
Diane

Re: First mets scare since '05:(

Tricia,

I had the exact same experience. One day I felt a place on my spine was 'not right' and talked to my oncologist. He ordered a spinal x-ray and it turned out fine. I then realized that I had been sitting in the couch too much -using my computer every day in a bad posture.

But it's always good to check it out. Being a 'hypochondriac' has saved my own life several times now. Better safe than sorry.

Hi Tricia, I hope your back pain is just that, back pain!!! Oh...cancer...how it changes our thinking!! My "Brain mets" turned out to be vertigo..."Kidney mets" was appendicitis...second bout with "Kidney Mets" is kidney stones...good heavens...reminds me of a woman I heard of who is an alcoholic...sober for years...relapsed...her daughter heard her slurring her words and said, "Mom, either you are drunk, or you have had a stroke." Mom answered, without hesitation, "I have had a stroke, dear." XO Suzan
