Hi Marejo, My prayers are definately with you. I hardly write on this website but I read all the time. I feel as though I know you. I'm always inspired by you, and I know you will recover in the amount of time you need, the Lord is certaintlly your strong tower. I had a failed right breast silicone implant due to infection and my radiated skin not holding my incision. For the time being I have decided to remove my other silicone implant and wear two prothesis until I can make a decision about the diep, it;s wonderful to read about someone who is JUST ready, because of that and your faith you know everything will work they it should. Thanks you guys.............The date is ALMOST HERE. Oh my gosh. I can hardly believe it. This is been in the planning stage since January and I thought it would never get here. At times I thought I had too much time to think about it BUT I think I needed this time to wrap my head around it all. Really think it through. To read EVERYTHING about it..........and trust me I have.
I just had my 6 month check ups with my radiation onc. and my regular onc. They both gave me their blessing and thought I'd do fine. I wanted to have the recurrence/surgery talk with my onc. also (already had the discussion with my mastectomy surgeon and our "wild Bill" consulted his surgeon for me also) All have given me the "thumbs up!"
Want to hear something else kind of cool? Ok, I'll tell ya.................June 24, 2005 I listened to my GYN. tell me he was sorry but I had breast cancer. Now, here I am ...... almost June 24, 2008 and I will be getting new "girls" - how's that for a smack in cancers face.
So..............My husband Mark will be posting a note to let you all know how the surgery went on Tuesday.................and A HUGE THANK YOU from my heart for your care and most of all your prayers. A friend of mine envisions God's angels surrounding my OR bed and hospital bed as I am healing. Please pray for that healing and protection to be swift, complete and without complications. I know God is listening and I know He has brought me to this point so I know He will be helping me through it all as His wonderful angels here on earth call forth His power.

Diagnosed stage 2b in July 2003 (2.3 cm, HER2+, ER-/PR-, 7+ nodes). Treated with mastectomy (with immediate DIEP flap reconstruction), AC + T/Herceptin (off label). Cancer advanced to lung in Jan. 2007 (1 cm nodule). Started Herceptin every 3 weeks. Lung wedge resection April 2007. Cancer recurred in lung April 2008. RFA of lung in August 2008. 2nd annual brain MRI in Oct. 2008 discovered 2.6 cm cystic tumor in left frontal lobe. Craniotomy Oct. 2008 (ER-/PR-/HER2-) followed by targeted radiation (IMRT). Coughing up blood Feb. 2009. Thoractomy July 2009 to cut out fungal ball of common soil fungus (aspergillus) that grew in the RFA cavity (most likely inhaled while gardening). No cancer, only fungus. Removal of tiny melanoma from upper left arm, plus sentinel lymph node biopsy in Feb. 2016. Guardant Health liquid biopsy in Feb. 2016 showed mutations in 4 subtypes of TP53. Repeat of Guardant Health biopsy in Jana. 2021 showed 3 TP53 mutations, BRCA1 mutation and CHEK2 mutation. Invitae genetic testing showed negative for all of these. Living with MBC since 2007. Stopped Herceptin Hylecta (injection) treatment in March 2020. Recent 2023 annual CT of chest, abdomen and pelvis and annual brain MRI showed NED. Praying for NED forever!!

ER+ (30%) /PR+ (50%), HER2+++
AC X 4 dose dense, Taxol X 4 dose dense
Herceptin started with 2nd Taxol, given weekly until chemo done
then given every 3 weeks for one year ending on March 16, 2007
Radiation 30 treatments
Tamoxifen - 2 yrs (pre-menopausal)
May 2008 - Feb 2012 Femara
Aug 2008 - Feb 2012 Zometa every 6 months
March 2012 - Stop Femara, now Evista for bone strengthening

07, Arimedex for 5 years. Mugas and Echo and chest xRay. Bone scan of whole Body, and Back of Brain and spine MRI.
CT scan of Lungs every six months
due to two small places. December
2009, bone scan due to bone pain.
Follow up test in 2010.

Are you all packed up?? I brought some of those foamy earplugs and an eye mask. It helped when trying and rest during the hospital stay. Watch lots of junk tv too! I watched a 24 hour Wife Swap marathon LOL.
And give dear husband a big hug before the surgery. Poor guys- it is an eternity for them. For us- it seems like 5 minutes and you are done.
