Its good to be prepared as I was a girl scout, but its also good
to follow your dreams so you can do both and go for it. Take care.

Wow Brenda Way To Go
What a wonderful itinerary you have planned for your year.
I envy you so. My dream has always been to travel if I could financially and health wise, both of course which are an issue now but I still dream and make plans and if they come true then that is a BIG plus. My family always say's that I don't finish one thing before I start planning for the next - and I think that keeps me going.
Have a great time on all of your travels my friend.

Believe me, if most of these trips weren't connected to business for my significant other, I wouldn't be going. Financially, we could never swing it. Germany is the only one that I will have to save up for. But you better believe that I am doing everything in my power to stay well and feel good so I can travel without being too high maintenance...

Hi,
I have been stage IV for 2.5 years and have traveled to Ireland, Canada and on my way to Italy. I purchase travel insurance every time for peace of mind. For our Italy trip, the insurance for a family of 4 is $600 (the trip is for 2 weeks). It will cover a pre existing condition if you purchase the insurance within a certain time period of paying for the trip. Check out insuremytrip.com. We used HTH Worldwide and AIG previously. Good luck and don't give up your dreams!

Hi Hermiracle,
I am not sure where you are at with your treatments...but
Personally because I had finished my chemo 8 weeks before I first departed to the USA, I just took a normal insurance which simply excluded anything related to breast cancer it costed me $100 for a year world travel. My scans were clear, my blood was good so I figured risk was indeed low that I would require anything in emergency related to cancer. But hey that is me..and I do not know your performance status.
Well done for your 20 years dry.

Try this insurance company
Hi Hermiracles,
Although I am Stage 1 I also had difficulty getting health insurance to travel from Australia to an international destination. On advice from the national breast cancer association I contacted 'Covermore' insurance and have had no problems since. You do have to pay an extra premium but it's worth it! Give them a call.
Best wishes,
Emily

I think I've decided NOT to go
but it's OK. I saw my Onc the other day and he said ultimately its my decision - but he would be very concerned for my health - especially because I would still be in the middle of treatment - Herceptin. Its more the complications - Im getting a lot of fluid retention and have had a stroke in the past - so maybe next year!
As the Herceptin can also damage heart/circulation it could be too risky while still on treatment - given my related health problems more than the cancer itself - if that makes any sense. The fluid retention is worse in my right leg where I have had the op - the Onc reckons probably because of the radiotherapy I have had to that area.
So I am practising acceptance..... "is the answer to all my problems"
And I am so amazed at the wealth of support and info you have all freely given.. it makes such a difference and really helps me to sort through all these thoughts in my mind!
Thank you Sisters.
Blessings
Hermiracles

Ya know, that's a long plane ride to take with fluid retention. Maybe you are right and next year would be best. Let us know ahead of time on the board when you are coming. Canada isn't so far for some of us. If you bring the bubbas I will babysit.

Herm,
Sorry you had to postpone your trip, but yes fluid retention could be a big problem on such a long flight. Where in Canada were you supposed to go? I'm in a suburb just north of Toronto.
And I will babysit the bubbas as well.
all the best
