Re: Tabatha Is Terminal
Joanna, my heart breaks for you and your family, and for little Tabatha. I hope they're able to give her something that will ease her nausea and pain. I cannot imagine what Trina must be going through. You must all be numb. You're right, it's too much for one family. I will pray you find strength to offer each other. Sending love and prayers.

Joanna,
I am praying for all in your family for strength and of course for Tabatha. I am deeply sorry that you have to endure such heartbreak.
Warm Regards,

Re: Tabatha Is Terminal
It is an awful lot for one family to bare. When my brother was diagnosed with advanced melanoma one month before my stage IV diagnoses, we were all in shock. It was killing my mother, two of her children had been told the worse news possible back to back. My brother died 2 years later. He told me that he had prayed to God not to take us both, that it would kill mother. In a way I feel that might have been my brothers gift to me because I'm still here and NED. What treatments have they given your niece and why will they not try something else...sherry

Re: Tabatha Is Terminal
Sherry,Yes it is a lot for one family to bare,We are all hurting,I am trying to get my sister to take Tabatha to another Onc. (apparantly she has faith that the Dr. is correct) I can't keep from thinking that there is something else out there for her,she now has a couple of hard lumps, one on top of her head, the other on her back on side.she had two weeks of radiation on spine & sternum,I think the onc. maybe thinking since she is already compromised w/ (cerebral Palsy & stageIV)that it w/be too much for her????? I am frustrated,I do not have much say in the matter,I just know that I am not ready to give up on her yet,I truly hope there is a miracle, prayer is all we have,Thanks to everyone who commented,I appreciate any response,Joanna

Re: Tabatha Is Terminal
Hi Joanna,
I am so sorry this is happening to you and you must feel desperate, powerless to do something about it. How does she feel about the situation? Is she aware that she is dying? I remember that when my mother had esophagal cancer, she "knew" she was dying. The last days of her life, she needed us to accept that. She said it felt very lonely to be dying why everybody around her was trying to keep her alive.
I'm not saying you should give up, because I don't know enough about you and her. Just saying that sometimes we so desperately want to do something for a loved one, that we forget to ask what they need from us.
Only because my mother was aware of how she felt and because she was able to express her feelings, were we able to share her last few days with her and be at peace with her passing. It was very hard for us to go along with her wishes, because we so desperately wanted to try everything and anything to keep her alive. I am glad we let go in the end. It gave us closure too and she was happy to see that we had accepted what was happening. It gave us a chance to be with her with all our hearts until the last second of her life.
If you worry about the doc thinking that way, could you have a talk with him/her? Would that help you to ease your mind? Does your sister know how you feel?
This is really very, very hard. I hope you all find the strength you need to deal with this.
Jacqueline
