There is a blood test for HER-2, for the monitoring metastatic breast cancer patients. Herceptin does not interfere with test results. The blood test can be done over the course of the disease. It allows physicians to make therapy modifications. It is available at Quest lab and other labs as well. It does not replace having a biopsy done but is used after that.
