Progesterone is MADE by estrogen in the body (to put it simply). When one cycles through menstruation, estrogen is the catalyst for the whole thing. Estrogen rises and then an egg is released, and then progesterone rises. The second half of the menstrual cycle is dominated by progesterone. That is why if you are PR positive, you need to eliminate the effects of estrogen in your body. And pregnancy seems really counterintuitive, but that's a whole 'nother post...
