I have been on Herceptin since 1999 alone and with other chemo's. When I began taking it, my onc. stressed to me that if I never had a recurrence, we might never really know if it was the Herceptin or my immune system being strong enough to battle the cancer on it's own. I have had several recurrence's but my cancer has been behaving (if there is such a thing) since it has been recurring in one area of my liver only. Two months ago I had that tumor removed by removing half of my liver. Time will tell if it will recur.
I continue taking the Herceptin weekly and I have chosen to believe that taking it has helped keep the cancer more controlled. My onc. feels that I am responding to it also, so we will continue it.
I am also Her2 3+. I just had it retested to see if any changes since my first test and it had not.
