Re: Revised Guidelines Say Most Women Can Begin Mammograms At Age 50

“But mammography is not the answer for these women.” As Kattlove points out in his post, when young women die of breast cancer they are usually killed by very fast-growing aggressive cancers that grow too quickly to be caught by early detection. The tumors crop up, and spread in between annual mammograms."

What's needed is not a lessening of screening, but more accurate, more frequent and more healthy screening. I know I heard of some newer imaging coming up not long ago. Maybe some inexpensive yet indicative serum markers are possible. Hopefully treatment options like ablation and targeted biological/immune based treatments will make the "overtreatment" tradeoff less drastic.
